Does the St. Luke's have a hot lunch program?

Our hot lunch program, provided by Managed Meals, focuses on providing our students with healthy, cooked from scratch, nutritious food. We can accommodate special dietary needs (gluten-free, -friendly, etc.) if requested. Participation in the Managed Meals hot lunch program is optional and is available on an annual basis only. The cost for the 2017-2018 school year is provided below.

Where do I find school uniforms?

School uniforms and P.E. uniforms for middle school can be purchased at School Time Uniforms on Jefferson Highway. School uniforms may also be ordered online from Lands End. St. Luke's Parents' Guild offers used uniforms as well. On Fridays, students may wear spirit t-shirts with denim or school uniform bottoms. Spirit shirts may be purchased from the school's spirit shop.

What before and after school care is available?

  • Early Care is offered from 7:25am - 7:55am
  • After School care is offered from 3:20pm - 6:00pm.
  • Extended care is also available during holidays if enough students sign up?

Does St. Luke's offer summer camps?

St. Luke's offers summer camps from early June through the end of July. Sample topics for camps are arts, reading, science, and technology. 

What is the average homework?

Regular homework is assigned in lower school Monday through Thursday to support classroom learning. The amount of time spent on homework varies by grade level. 

Homework in middle school may be assigned for every school day as well as weekends, but in many cases, students are given the opportunity to start assignments in class. Besides extending learning opportunities, homework for middle school students also serves as a means to teach them how to manage their time between school and extracurricular activities.

What standardized tests do St. Luke’s students take?

Students in 3rd through 6th grades take the Aspire Test. Seventh graders take the Explore Test. Eighth graders take the Explore Test, and in some cases the Aspire Test. All standardized tests are administered in the spring.

How can I communicate with teachers?

Communication between parents and teachers is key to students' success, and the faculty at St. Luke's are very conscientious about how and what they communicate.  Teachers communicate through RenWeb, newsletters, Google Classroom, Seesaw, e-mails, and phone calls. In the Early Childhood and Lower School programs, conferences are scheduled at the close of the first quarter and as needed for the remainder of the school year. In middle school, conferences are scheduled as requested by parents or teachers. 

Do all students make the team for school sponsored sports?

Students in 5th through 8th grades may participate in one or more of the St. Luke's sports teams. Every student willing to give full effort, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and maintain minimum academic and behavioral requirements will get to play.

How can parents and grandparents get involved?

St. Luke's Parents' Guild provides many opportunities for parents to volunteer: Shark Shop, homeroom parents, auction, individual programs. The Golden Sharks is a group designed for grandparents who want to help during the school year. The school also has an athletic booster club known as Shark Bites. This group assists the Athletic Director with fundraising and other needs that arise throughout the year.
